How Often Should Women Strength Train?

May 19, 2026 · 5 min read

Three days a week is the answer for most women. What matters more is what those days look like and whether you can repeat them for a year.

Two days: maintenance and momentum

Two full-body sessions will build noticeable strength for a beginner and maintain it for an experienced lifter. If your season of life allows two, take two.

Three days: the sweet spot

Three full-body sessions let you hit each major movement pattern twice a week with enough recovery in between. This is where most Chevelle Fit programs live.

Four days: for specific goals

Four days lets you split upper and lower body and add focused accessory work. Useful when you have a specific strength or physique goal and the schedule to support it.
